In addition, customer service is a key element. The perfect retail security officer needs to be welcoming to bona-fide customers and staff and at the same time be a visible deterrent to criminals.
Retail officers need to have that something extra special that identifies “something not being quite right” and then being able to act upon it.
All officers are tested on their knowledge at each management visit to ensure there is no relaxing of standards. We also conduct mystery shopper exercises to observe our officer’s performance.
